What are my job responsibilities?

As a fiber technician with us, you will work on building and maintaining the communication networks of the future. Your job is to ensure that fiber connections work as they should, both during new installations and when something needs troubleshooting or repair. You will work with both companies and private individuals, and you will be involved from the cable cabinet to the end user.

Your tasks may include:

• Installation of fiber connections (e.g., FTTH – Fiber To The Home)
• Troubleshooting and servicing existing networks
• Blowing and welding fiber cables
• Measuring with OTDR to find and analyze faults
• Cable pulling and termination, for example, Cat-6
• Splicing fiber

You will work both independently and together with the team, and you will receive your assignments from a production planner who is also available for support when needed. The work can vary throughout the day depending on customer needs, so it is important that you are flexible and can adapt quickly to changes.

Initially, there is no on-call duty included in the position. This may become relevant in the future, but is not currently planned. However, the role does mean that you will be included in a call list, which means you may be contacted to support the business when needed.

In the role, you will report to team leader Stefan, who is described as a factual, competent, humble, and collaborative leader. Stefan's motto is “we solve everything together!”. He has great trust in his employees and therefore provides freedom with responsibility. Stefan is based in Sundsvall, while you will primarily work in Örnsköldsvik. Therefore, it is important that you are comfortable with and enjoy working independently. You will have ongoing contact with Stefan digitally via phone or Teams, and he is also available physically for site visits when needed.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

• A completed high school education
• Previous experience in similar work and comfortable handling various tools & measuring instruments
• Good Swedish in speech and writing, as well as a good understanding of English
• A B driver's license for manual transmission (E driver's license is an advantage)

We prefer that you are already a certified fiber technician or have extensive experience in the profession. It is an advantage if you have completed any of the Swedish Transport Administration's training programs with relevant focus. Furthermore, experience and knowledge in electricity, IP technology, OTDR measuring instruments, and if you can weld and blow fiber are also advantageous.

The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period.
